A Vigilance or Watch Dog Committee formed on 25 May 2023 at the Kirtipur Municipality representing Dalit women activists, women human rights defenders (WHRDs) and locally elected women leaders to monitor and provide legal aid for the victims of caste-based discrimination, untouchability, gender-based violence and other human rights violations. A total of 15 members are on the vigilance committee. The vigilance committee focuses to identify and monitor the cases of caste-based discrimination, untouchability, GBV, and human rights violations in close coordination with Dalit women rights activists and the local judicial committee in terms of providing justice for victims. The regular monthly meeting of the vigilance committee will be conducted to identify, collect, monitor the cases, and refer to police, local judicial committee, and relevant institutions for providing victims with legal aid and justice.
