On February 17, 2024, a seminar was organized by the Dalit Women Network (DWN) on the occasion of WSF 2024, Nepal. The seminar was titled “Discrimination against Dalit Children and the Way Forward to Ensure the Rights of Dalit Children.” 75 participants from different organizations attended the seminar. The program was moderated by Ms. Manu B.K., the Secretary of DWN, and chaired by Ms. Bal Kumari Bishwakarma, the President of DWN. The paper was presented by Mr. Sushil B.K., the president of Nepal Dalit Human Rights Organization (DHR-Nepal). The chief guest speaker was Mr. Gauri Pradhan, the former commissioner of National Human Rights Commission (HHRC) and Founder President of CWIN. Other guest speakers were Ms. Kamala Hemchuri, the President of PDRC and Women Activist; Ms. Writtu Bhatta, the Executive Secretary of Swatantrata Abhiyan Nepal (SAN) and Women Activist, Mr. Santosh Maharjan, the President of Child Consortium Nepal and Ms. Bal Maya Bishwakarma, an Advocate and Women Activist. They expressed their views based on the paper presented in the seminar. The discussion was focused on making all government and civil society actors responsive and accountable to ensure the rights of Dalit children in Nepal.
